Alex Smith, lead Placemaker at Camp North End, hails from the rural Appalachian foothills of Pennsylvania. Alex came to North Carolina by way of San Francisco, where he worked at the hands-on art and science museum, the Exploratorium, before working as a Park Ranger in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Camp North End is a mold-breaking project, which puts to use his wide and diverse set of skills. Here, Alex focuses on creating outdoor public spaces that bring communities together, illuminate local history, reclaim found objects, and inspire folks to make their own creative dreams come true.
