Google Fiber will move its uptown office to a nearly 6,000-square-foot space at Camp North End in 2023.

ATCO Properties & Management and Shorenstein Properties announced today the internet provider signed a 10-year lease for 5,884 square feet in the property’s historic Gama Goat Building at 1801 N. Graham St. Google Fiber is currently housed at the Phillip Carey building, at 301 E. Seventh St., in uptown.

The build-to-suit space will serve as Google Fiber’s Charlotte office and community engagement center. Alliance Architecture is designing the space to highlight the building’s high ceilings, clearstory windows and timber trusses.

Jess George, Google Fiber head of government and community affairs’ east region, said the company will move into the new space in mid-2023.

“Google Fiber is excited to be part of this vibrant community which represents the innovative spirit of our city,” she said.

Tommy Mann, development director at Camp North End, said he’s thrilled to welcome a tenant of Google Fiber’s caliber to the property’s “growing community of innovation-forward, technology-focused businesses.”

“The renovated Gama Goat Building has proven to be a unique opportunity for companies seeking best-in-class office space in an adaptive-reuse setting with a thriving community of food, beverage and retail businesses at their employee’s fingertips,” he said.

Google Fiber was represented by CBRE’s John Christenbury. Building ownership was represented by Cushman & Wakefield’s Jessica Brown and David Dorsch. Swinerton is the general contractor.

The lease brings Camp North End’s total occupancy of delivered space to 73% and builds on the momentum at the Gama Goat Building. Charlotte-based Kingsmen Software signed a seven-year lease for 16,000 square feet there in August.

Neighboring tenants in the Keswick District include Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas, Rent EBoards Charlotte, YVY Fitness, Windy O’Connor Art + Home and food stalls Bleu Barn North End, La Caseta, Plant Joy and SARU. Other commercial tenants throughout Camp North End include Centene Corp., Ally Financial, AON and CloudGenera.
