ZOOCRU @ Camp North End

This event is FREE and open to the public. Doors open at 5pm with music from 6-9pm.

CRÜ formed amidst the thriving music and arts community of Durham, North Carolina. Influenced by artists such as Roy Ayers, Thelonious Monk A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Jimi Hendrix, Wu-tang Clan, Radiohead, Herbie Hancock, and Miles Davis, they blend hip hop, blues, rock and gospel to create a sound best described as Black American music. With jazz as a foundation, and a core tenet that all popular American music stems from the seeds of Black music, the four draw from a rich musical legacy to create art that is equal parts anthem and affirmation.

Common interests and experiences brought members Jonathan Curry, Christian Sharp and Alan Thompson together on the campus of North Carolina Central University in 2012 for early collaborations that were fruitful, musically stimulating and set the foundations for the group. Russell Favret was added in 2014 to complete the unit.

For sounds that heal the broken, tunes to honor the fallen and make sonic space for all in the Crü World Order, listen to their lastest single, Honey.
