Lecture by Thomas Woltz: “From Industry to Community: Bridging History and Ecology in Camp North End’s Public Landscapes”

Join us for a lecture with American Landscape Architect, Thomas Woltz, as he discusses designing the public landscapes for Camp North End.

Thomas Woltz, the landscape architect behind the design of 201 Camp Road, will give a lecture aimed at members of the public with a high level of passion for garden design entitled “From Industry to Community: Bridging History and Ecology in Camp North End’s Public Landscapes.”

Every landscape holds history. History of the geologic forces that shaped it, the people who have tended it, built, and lived upon it, and the ecologies that it sustains. In designing the public landscapes of Camp North End, the NBW team drew from these histories, weaving together the many years of industrial production onsite with the native Piedmont ecology of the region and the vision and needs of the community who now stewards it to create a vibrant public landscape that honors each of these stories.

As you can see from the Nelson Byrd Woltz web page, Thomas’s career includes too many projects to list here – but suffice it to say that we feel fortunate to have Thomas delivering a lecture in Charlotte about his firm’s work.
